It is with great sorrow and sadness that I am informing you of the untimely death of Sergeant Benjamin B. Habershon #2654. This morning members of the Prince George’s County Police Department conducted a welfare check at Sergeant Habershon’s residence and located him unresponsive; although, foul play is not expected the manner of death is still under investigation.
Sergeant Habershon was a member of Session 95 and faithfully served the Prince George’s County Police Department and our community for 24 years. Those of us who were fortunate enough to have worked with him over the years can attest to his dedication to our agency and our members. He had an uplifting spirit that was contagious. Sergeant Habershon served the organization in various assignments to include District III, the Forensic Science Division, and the Realtime Crime Center. We ask that you keep his family, friends, and coworkers in your thoughts during this difficult time.

The Psychological Services Division invites all officers and civilian employees who have been affected by this loss to attend an informal support debrief, the debrief will be held tomorrow, November 5, 2025, at 1000 hours in the District III Conference Room. This gathering provides a safe and confidential space to reflect mutual support among peers and mental health professionals. As always, our peer support team and Psychological Services Division is available for any member that wishes to contact them.
