Death of Brother Tom Bruciak #331 & Funeral Arrangements

It is with great sadness that the Crime Scene Investigation Division announces  the passing of Crime Scene Investigator,  Thomas M. Bruciak #C-1332. Tom passed after a short illness on February 24, 2022 surrounded by his family.   Tom Joined the department in the Spring of 1969. After graduation, he worked as a new  patrol officer in Division I. From 1971 through 1974, he was assigned to patrol at Division II. Then, in 1974, he was assigned to the Special Operations Division, Auto Theft. In 1976, he returned to patrol at Division II until he was assigned to the Evidence Unit in 1978.   Tom would spend the next fourteen years in Evidence establishing crime scene training methods still used today.  In 1992, Tom retired and he and his wife Mary moved to Florida where he spent the next twenty one years working in the jewelry trade as well as working with the youth at his local Y.M.C.A.  Finally, in July 2014, Tom returned to Maryland and to the job he loved with our agency for a second time as a Crime Scene Investigator. 

 

Tom will forever be a part of this agency and beloved friend and co-worker to the Crime Scene Investigation Division.  Please keep his wife Mary, daughter Kristen, and son Michael in your thoughts and prayers.  He will be forever missed.

Funeral Services:

Visitation for Thomas will be held Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM  at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20715. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM, at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20715. A graveside service will occur Monday, March 7, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5829 Ritchie Highway, Baltimore, MD 21225. Repast at FOP 89 to follow beginning at 4pm.
