“The City of Greenbelt Police Department is saddened to announce the death of Master Police Officer Christine Peters. Officer Peters passed away today, from injuries she sustained while on duty on January 2nd 2021.
Officer Peters was injured while investigating a vehicle crash on Edmonston Road near Sunnyside Road. While Officer Peters was on foot, she was struck by a passing vehicle. This accident remains under investigation by the U.S Park Police.
Officer Peters began her career in law enforcement with the University of Maryland Police Department prior to joining the City of Greenbelt in 1998. During her 22 years of service, she was recognized for her outstanding work and contributions to the community.
The Greenbelt Police Department expresses its deepest sympathies to Officer Peters’ family and friends on their loss, and we mourn the loss of a friend and colleague.”
Fop 89 will continue to coordinate efforts to support our Greenbelt Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #32 Family.
